I’m Steve Dempsey, and welcome to my blog. We’ll see over time if I’m successful.
This is where I talk about myself. I have lived in different parts of California all of my life. California is a special place to live. The beaches of Southern California are fantastic, and the scenery of Northern California is breathtaking. Along the way, I have two kids who are grown up and one grandson.
Most of my professional life has been as a journalist, beginning with a stint with a weekly newspaper in Laguna Beach in my sophomore year at El Toro High School. About a year later, I was fired, but it didn’t discourage me. I knew being a journalist was the path I wanted to take.
The good news was that hard work paid off, and I was able to make a career out of journalism. For about 40 years, I covered sports at many levels, from high school football to significant college sports, the NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, motorsports, and golf. Also, I wrote editorials for the Opinion side while hosting a podcast on various subjects.
Starting a Blog
Meanwhile, I wanted to start a blog because I have a unique perspective on many issues, and you might – or might not – like what I have to say. So, in my blog, I make many issues my business to talk about, be it whatever comes to mind, not just sports. Many things are happening, and now is the time to speak up.
I take all kinds of stances. You will see that I march to a different drummer. I am not a liberal or conservative, but someone looking for the correct answers. I can be old school or deliver something fresh.
You might enjoy reading what I say, and hopefully, you will respond to my blog for better or worse. (Please keep it as clean as possible.)
